Our History
Michael Power Accountants began in 1990 when Michael Power set up his own accountancy practice in Clonmel.
What started in a converted room behind the family garage soon grew into something bigger, with the move to 12 Bolton Street marking the official beginning of the firm. From the very start, Michael and his wife brought not just financial expertise, but a strong commitment to family values and the local community.
A New Chapter
In 2010, David Power returned to Clonmel after training with another practice in Waterford.
Working alongside his father, David gradually took on more responsibility before officially taking over the practice in September 2019. Under his leadership, the firm entered a new era of growth and innovation, while keeping its client-first philosophy at the centre of everything.
A Growing Company
Since then, Michael Power Accountants has expanded significantly, now employing over 25 staff across three offices in Clonmel and Tipperary Town.
In 2021, the firm took over Carew & Company in Tipperary Town, further strengthening its local presence. In 2023, a second office was opened on Queen Street, Clonmel, to accommodate the growing team and client base.
Rooted in Community
Community involvement has always been central to who we are as a family and as a company, from sitting on parish councils and school boards to a strong presence in the GAA. Michael served as Treasurer of both the Tipperary County Board and the Munster Council, while David has held multiple roles from club coach to County Development Squad mentor and serving as Chairman of his local club Kilsheelan Kilcash for six years.
David went on to take charge of the Tipperary Senior Football team, leading them through one of the most significant periods in their recent history. Building on that experience, he was recently appointed manager of the Tipperary Ladies Senior Football team, a role he approaches with the same commitment and passion he brings to his professional life.
